Job Description - Role : Validation Technicians (Windows)

Location : Bangalore

Experience : 6 Months to 5 year

 

Skill Set

Must Have :

·         Working knowledge of Operating Systems, computer peripherals and PC (Windows + Intel) architecture.

·         Good knowledge about firmware.

·         Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with teams.

·         Nice to have would be existing experience on assembling PCs and motherboard components, installing/troubleshooting Windows Operating System

·         Good understanding of System Validation methodologies and concepts would be an added advantage.

 

PC Architecture:

·         Good understanding on the Motherboard, its components and specifications.

·         (PCIE, PCI, AGP, USB, SATA, E-SATA, USB, VGA, DVI, HDMI, S-video, Composite, Component, RAM (DDR1, DDR2, DDR3), CPU, SMPS, North Bridge, South Bridge, Wired / Wireless Network setup, PCMCIA, SMPS, SBIOS, Ps2, SSD, IDE)

 

OS Knowledge:

·         Good understanding on DOS and Windows Knowledge.

·         (Dos Commands and its usage, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 features & differences between them).

·         (Fair understanding on Windows Hybrid sleep, Hibernate, Sleep, Standby modes, Windows Registry).

·         (Features like Rollback drivers, Disk Defrag, Format, Windows Aero, Windows Defender, System Boot Process).

 

Intel CPU Architecture:

·         Good Knowledge of X86 Architecture, Netburst, Core to the latest Nahelam Architecture for both Desktop and Mobile CPU's CPU sleep States. (C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6)

·         Latest Intel Chipsets names and their basic differences.

·         Others: Various Device States (D0, D1, D2, D3), RAID and its types.

·         Have fair knowledge on System Benchmarking and Stress tools like 3D Mark 2005 , Vantage, Si soft Sandra, PC Mark and Bitpro.

Bios Debug Engineer

:

Skill Set

 

Must Have

:

·         Strong Background on Bios Debug.

·         Should be capable of having good knowledge of Bios (AMI, Phoenix and Award).

·         Experience on using Low level Debugger. (Source Code Level) for advanced debug.

·         Strong knowledge on Registers and Tools related to option Rom.

·         Prior experience on Bios Validation and Debug is must.

·         Good Knowledge on Intel PC Architecture.

 

·         Should know core platform components and have an overview of the peripherals and other components of the PC.

 

Communication Skills: Should be very comfortable in communicating fluently with all the Team members, management teams of UST and Client.

Nice to Have

:

·         Development experience on C and Assembly Level Language and writing Programs.

Windows Driver Debug Engineer

Experience

:

3 to 5 years

Skill Set

 

Must Have

:

·         Strong Windows internals and Driver debug experience.

·         Understanding of Windows OS both from Driver and Kernel Level.

·         Good understanding of WDK.

·         Knowledge and experience on Software Validation/Debug.

·         Good understanding of WDM, Function and Bus Driver Models.

·         Good understanding of various Microsoft API's on Graphics, Audio, Multimedia and Networking.

·         Experience to isolate Device Driver issues.

·         Good knowledge on setting and Root causing issues using WinDebug.

·         Good Knowledge on Intel PC Architecture.

 

Communication Skills: Should be very comfortable in communicating fluently with all the Team members, management teams of UST and Client.

Nice to Have

:

·         Knowledge/experience in Platform Bring Up is desirable

·         Familiarity with WDDM 1.x would be an advantage

Hardware Debug Engineer

Experience

:

3 to 5 years

Skill Set

 

Must Have

:

·         Experience in setting up and maintaining lab systems and infrastructure, exposure to High speed scopes & Logic Analyzers

·         Knowledge of Basic Electricals, Oscilloscope usage for high speed serial / parallel interfaces, Handling high speed probes, hands on soldering the components etc.

·         Must possess certain knowledge of computers and electronics including circuit boards, processors, Memory Chips etc would be a plus

·         Must posses Motherboard Debug Experience on Hardware issues.

·         Must have experience using Microsoft Office Visio, Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word

·         Good analytical and problem solving skills

·         Good written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to take responsibility on solving a problem

·         Good Knowledge of Intel PC Architecture

 

Nice to Have

:

·         Experience with the installation and use of debug tools and hardware would be a plus

·         Experience with Windows 7*, Vista*, WinXP and Linux* operating systems and driver installation and usage

·         Ability to work in a team and share best practice

·         Ability to perform independent thought process

·         Knowledge of Power and Performance Measurement testing on the CRB
